Manor House

Short history

The first registered data of the

location date back to the 15th century.

The Manor House as it exists today was built in

1810 by the German Rennenkampff family led by

Georg Gustav von Rennenkampff. This family held

the Manor House for over 100 years. More info

on this period of history e.g. in the Rennenkampff

Family home page. The Manor House caught fire

during the revolution in 1905 and consequently

was never quite re-built.

After Estonian Freedom War in 1919 and consequent independence, the property was nationalized. In the early 1930's, to honor his achievements in the Estonian Freedom War, Bernhard Mitt acquired the right to buy the Manor House as his family residence and held it intil 1939.

During the second world war and consequent Russian and German occupation times the Manor House was used for various functions, among them local army headquarters.

During the Soviet era the Manor House was the school and kindergarten, "graduate school summer camp" (Malev) and the centre of the local farming co-operative,

After the Estonian independence regained during early 1990's, Asta-Lea Sild (daughter of Bernhard Mitt) privatized and regained her family property and used it as their summer-residence.

During year 2000 we acquired the Manor House and started renovations. The idea was first to establish a dog kennel and summer family residence, but recently the Manor House has taken the role of our primary family residence.
